At Pioneer, we have perfected some very customized construction systems, using full log, timber frame and log post-and-beam building methods. We have incorporated timber joinery learned in Europe to enhance the beauty and quality of your Pioneer home. All of our logs are hand peeled with a drawknife at our yard sites and the joinery is finished with axes and slicks to highlight the natural beauty of each log. Our builders use a lateral groove, full-scribe system and our own specially designed shrink notch corner system, to ensure each log in your home has a tight and trusted fit.

We do get wind speeds of 80 mph and the house has withstood the elements fantastically. We have thoroughly enjoyed living in our home for the last 5 years. Wood also performs great in severe hurricane force winds, with special techniques and structural systems that can withstand winds up to 180 kilometres per hour or 112 miles per hour. In August… you delivered our new log residence, it was the 5th log structure we had purchased from Pioneer Log Homes of British Columbia since 1994. All of these buildings were very large in size for commercial use in our family’s business. Our logs are hand-peeled at our building sites using a drawknife. All of the logs are dimensioned and fitted precisely for the best performance and character. Additionally, we have an impressive log inventory to ensure we will always be able to provide the type of log needed to fit the specifications of your custom log home or log cabin. It was here that Jay learned the difference in a quality handcrafted log home. He quickly realized the advantages of handcrafting as compared to mass-produced, machine-milled logs that all looked alike and were rapidly growing in popularity across the country. My family and I would like to extend our sincerest thanks for looking out for our family’s best interests while engineering, designing and building our home. For additional effect, the log ends are carved in Alaskan finish, smooth-faced Yukon finish, or gentle scrolled timber arches. Once every detail is honed to perfection and the log-only structure is complete. Each log is then tagged, numbered, and transported directly to your building site.

The logs or timbers and roof system are then placed strategically into your custom design, at our log building facilities. The joinery is a true work of art, finished with an age-old European process. Bryan Reid Jr., spent many years training under his father to become a Master Craftsman, and has since taken over the family business while continuing to oversee operations at the Pioneer 153 Mile site. After we have selected the right logs − one at a time − for your home, we move on to handcrafting each one so they fit perfectly. Once your home is constructed it is carefully disassembled, loaded and transported to your property where a Pioneer craftsman supervises the assembly of the log shell onto your foundation.
